France Cohortes is a joint research unit created by INSERM (health research), in partnership with INED (demographic studies), Université Paris Cité, Sorbonne Université and Université Paris Saclay.
Graphéine supported the cohort in the creation of its visual identity. The primary objective was to come up with a logotype that would embody both the collective approach associated with the large amount of data collected on a panel of hundreds of citizens. At the same time, it had to reflect the individual path taken by each participant during the follow-up.
Cohorts are veritable tools for public health research, consisting of a group of people followed individually over time. Their aim is to identify the occurrence of health events of interest, and the related risk or protective factors. Cohorts are one of the reference tools for epidemiological and public health research.
The France Cohortes emblem is made up of different lines tracing the distinct paths and specificities of the participants. Together, these paths contribute to a collective approach to scientific data. The circular shape of this emblem shows the constant evolution and openness required to run this cohort. The CO cohort initials can also be found within the emblem.
The “France Cohortes data waves” emblem, used as a separate element from the corporate logotype, anchors the various components of the graphic identity. It articulates the wide variety of iconographic sources and the chromatic range defined for the visual identity.
The supporting typeface is DM Sans designed by Colophon Foundry. It's a geometric sans serif typeface with low contrast. The mix of rounded and precise shapes makes it a balanced, highly functional typeface.
The codes of scientific rigor in the collection and analysis of public health research data are combined with the representation of individual support for participants. All of these aesthetic considerations contribute to defining a graphic guidelines and brand image in line with the objective of working for the well-being of citizens.
France Cohortes is a joint research unit. It was set up by Inserm (health research), in partnership with Ined (population studies), Université Paris Cité, Sorbonne Université and Université Paris Saclay. Inserm is the project coordinator. France Cohortes is co-financed by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR), as part of the future investment program (PIA), and the MESRI. France Cohortes structures the production and provision of health data for the benefit of society.
- Creation of a logo for the unit, which fits in well with the other logos (tutelles, cohorts and partner brands).
- Graphic charter with rules for using the typographic logo
- Deployment on communication media (powerpoint, letterhead, report cover, e-mail signature)
- Integrate constraints of state graphic charter design management
